A Life and Service Remembered
Orville Clarence Iredale was born and raised in St. Marys, Ontario, and was part of a generation that answered the call to serve during the Second World War. He joined the Perth Regiment and served with D Company.
During his time overseas, Iredale served both as an infantryman and as a mechanic, contributing to the regiment in multiple roles. Like many soldiers of the Perth Regiment, his service would have taken him through demanding conditions as Canadian forces fought in the European theatre. At this time, his service records are not publicly available, so the exact details of his wartime movements have not yet been confirmed.

Service was also a family commitment. His brother, Herson Iredale, served alongside the Perth Regiment as well, reflecting a shared sense of duty within the family.
Following the war, Iredale returned home to St. Marys where he built a full life rooted in family and community. He remained deeply involved in veterans’ organizations, becoming a Life Member, President, and Past President of ANAF Unit #265. These roles reflect a continued dedication to supporting fellow veterans and preserving the bonds formed during wartime service.
Orville Clarence Iredale passed away on October 29, 2006 at the age of 88. He is remembered not only for his wartime service, but for a lifetime of commitment to his community and to the veteran organizations he supported.
