A Life and Service, Remembered

Earl J. Aldis was born in St. Marys on August 10, 1921. When WWII began, he enlisted in the Army in 1939 and served overseas with the Perth Regiment, including in Africa and later in Italy. Those campaigns demanded endurance and reliability, and Earl did his part far from home.

After the war he returned to St. Marys and built a steady life in the community he loved, working for many years at Skipper’s Scrap Yard and the St. Marys Cement Company.

Earl’s commitment to veterans continued long after discharge. He was a proud member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 236 for 25 years and served as Branch President. His wife Helen also served the Legion as President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Earl passed away on November 13, 1980, and his family thanked the Legion for its continued devotion and dedication to veterans and to the community.
