A Life and Service Remembered

Scott Edward Wallace Facey was raised in East Nissouri Township, growing up on a family farm on Lot 26, Concession 8. As the son of Ivan and Joan Facey, he was part of a family with deep local roots and a strong connection to the community.

Choosing a path of military service, Facey joined the Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, a branch responsible for maintaining and repairing the equipment that keeps Canadian Forces operations running. His career would take him overseas on multiple occasions during a period when Canada was heavily involved in international peacekeeping and combat operations.

In 2000, he served with a United Nations task force in Bosnia for six months, contributing to stabilization efforts following the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia. Two years later, in 2002, he deployed to Afghanistan as part of the NATO mission, where Canadian Forces were engaged in complex and demanding operations.

During his service, Facey was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Edmonton and later completed a second tour in Afghanistan. His service reflects the role of Canadian soldiers in both peacekeeping and combat operations during the late twentieth and early twenty first centuries.

At this time, his service records are not publicly available, so the exact details of his operational movements have not yet been confirmed.

Following his military service, he made his home in Brandon, Manitoba with his wife Sherri and their children, Kegan and Bryn. His story reflects both service abroad and a continued commitment to family and community.
