A Life and Service Remembered
Albert Jackson, known to family and friends as Ab, was born and raised in St. Marys. He was one of three sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Jackson of Water Street North, and all three brothers would eventually serve in the armed forces during the Second World War.
Ab attended St. Marys Collegiate Institute before pursuing a career in pharmacy. After graduating from the Ontario College of Pharmacy, he worked for Tamblyn’s Ltd. and was employed as a druggist before the war.

He later married Eleanor Grey of Toronto. During the war, Ab’s experience and schooling fit well as he went on to serve with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, bringing a background in pharmacy and medicine into military service.
The surviving newspaper account is brief, but it captures a family deeply connected to the war effort. Albert, Hugh, and Wilk were all in uniform, while their parents remained at home in St. Marys.
Albert Jackson’s story is remembered today as part of the service of the Jackson family and through the St. Marys Legion Veterans Banner Program.
